the building that I work at is a tough scene for me

it’s four floors of lawyers

three floors of insurance people

and way too many conversations

about the weather

for me to feel like it’s worth hiding the hangover

unlike the rest of them.

the building I work at is building a new set of back stairs

and I’m temping there for the lawyers

they occupy the top four floors

because the farther you are from

the front door the more important you are

so they say

some of them actually wear bowties

and you can imagine the secretaries

yeah

there’s going to be a big golden sphere there

there’s corporate art for you

the wood planks and the trucks and the construction are beautiful

but still there’s that sign

I see it.
